Lack of Confidence
Lack of self confidence is one of the primary contributors to many problems people face in today’s society. The lack of belief in themselves and diminished feelings of worthiness eat away at people like cancer. Subsequently people continually settle for what they think they deserve, not what they can actually achieve.
Self sabotage is also commonly tied in with lack of confidence, in so far as, if you don’t feel confident doing something, then doubt sets, leading to under performance, not because of lack of skill or trying, but due to unconscious signals being sent to your conscious mind about what you can and can’t do.
Confidence, along with self esteem is learned and developed as children, the way we were encouraged, or discouraged, treated, challenges faced, support given all add up to develop our confidence levels. Interestingly enough, confidence is also very context dependant, for example, you might feel intimidated, or lack the confidence you would like to have when talking to work colleagues, but are extremely confident about your ability to drive your car home, so confident in fact that you will actively day dream whilst driving your car.
So in my experience it is never a case of lacking confidence, it is a case of forgetting your confidence in a certain area of life.
